Consistently one of our best local venues on all accounts of variety, sound, dedication, and crowd scene the Blue Moon in Shepherdstown, WV is bringing in yet another great national act this weekend. More specifically, this Sunday, December 4th we are lucky to have Mississippi raised nationally and internationally touring singer songwriter Cory Branan at our door steps to make us laugh, cry, and probably dance. Cory is on the verge of releasing his third full length solo album in the ten years of his professional music career. This may not sound like much of an accomplishment, but in between his own personal gems of Americana/folk/rock Cory has collaborated with other high caliber folks such as Lucero , Jon Snodgrass , and Austin Lucas showing up on many of their albums and special split compilations. If some of those folks like Jon Snodgrass (vids) and Austin Lucas (vids) sound familiar, very familiar, they should because they’ve all visited us (at the Blue Moon) in the past year also. A little bit about Cory’s upcoming record before I point you to a great recent interview with videos. Cory’s upcoming release is tentatively titled “Mutt” and sounds to be his most dynamic work to date. His mix of comical and pop culture laden songs with beautifully dark pieces is always a gold standard, but “Mutt” claims to be just as instrumentally diverse spanning Branan’s many influences in pop, rock, Americana, punk, and traditional bluegrass. If were lucky maybe he will play a bunch of new songs, but if not, either way you’ll be emotionally and musically dazzled. Also, the great and local alt country rockers Prison Book Club with Matt Kline will be opening. Awesome!! Ok, so that’s my closer on to the great recent interview and vids... by The Vinyl District .
