Do you remember Unreal Tournament? I know I do.
During my later High School years, it was the PC game of choice. I can’t remember how many hours I have put into it. Playing Capture the Flag on Facing Worlds, Deathmatch on The Peak Monastery, it was just full of fun and chaos. I would literally play the day away because the game was so addicting and amazing. As the series evolved, so did the dynamics. Unreal Tournament 2004 included vehicles and different weapons. I shyed away from the later games in the series since they strayed from the original formula. Even though UT2k3/UT2k4 still had its roots from Unreal Tournament, I just felt that the later games were out of place.
It’s been seven years since Unreal Tournament 3 has been released and there hasn’t been any word on any new installments in the series…until now. 🙂 The new Unreal Tournament will be totally free (aside for paying for community maps for a very low price), will be running on the new Unreal Engine 4 and will be community driven. I truly enjoy UT and I believe that Epic Games, the creator of the Unreal series, is on the right path on putting its flagship game back into the limelight.
