The Grumpy Cat movie lives!

Last May, I mentioned that a movie about Grumpy Cat, the sassy feline meme that has captured America’s heart, was being developed for reasons only Satan knows. And now, today, I read on the Associated Press that not only does it have a title (“Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever,” cuz what else are you going to name your Grumpy Cat movie?), but a promotional poster has been released, and … y’all …

Grumpy Cat TV Movie

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

According to the AP, Grumpy Cat (aka, Tardar Sauce) “will play a chronically overlooked pet-store cat. The twist, according to the cable network (Lifetime), is the 12-year-old girl who can communicate with her.” Well, it’s guaranteed to be better than Lifetime’s “Liz & Dick” TV movie, at least.

They haven’t cast the actor who’ll voice Grumpy Cat yet, and while the late, great Bea Arthur is the only artist who could properly and flawlessly capture the essence of grumpiness that is Grumpy Cat, may I once again suggest a motion-capture performance by Jeremy Renner?

And as awful as this movie is going to be (and it’s going to be “Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties” bad), you know I will watch it, devote an entire blog post to my favorite .gifs from it, and then “accidentally” order it on Blu-ray.
