Bring on the Braves!

With only 20 games left in the regular season for the Washington Nationals, the team is solidly in first place, 7  games above the Atlanta Braves.  All the games that the Nationals have left are against NL East teams, including six against the Braves.  So a LOT can still happen, despite the Nationals’ “magic number” to clinch their division being only 14.  Still, unless the team completely falls apart, you can expect the Nats to clinch the NL East and move on to post-season baseball. Hello, Washington Nationals fans!  I know it’s been a while since I’ve blogged, but there hasn’t been much excitement in Nats Nation lately – the team remains solidly in third place behind the Miami Marlins and the division-leading Atlanta Braves, and they still have some key players on the Disabled List.  It’s kind of a ho-hum time for Nationals fans as we wait for  Gio Gonzalez, Ryan Zimmerman, and Bryce Harper to come off the DL. Look Who’s Hitting!

What a difference a few weeks make!  The Washington Nationals went 14-5 during a 19-game stretch against the Marlins, Mets, and Phillies.   It was a crucial run of wins, and combined with a few slip-ups from the Reds recently, it's gotten the Nats only 5 games back of the National League wild card race (I'll be wearing my black and gold this weekend while I root for the Pirates to sweep the Reds!).
