Netflix Pix – April 2015

Ittttttt’s April! My birthday has come and gone. The weather is (finally) beginning to warm up. Easter is far in the rearview mirror. And, of course, the Kentucky Derby is in two days. Where has all the time gone? Who knows. What we do know, however, is that we are again getting in under the deadline (barely) for April and our Netflix Pix for the month. For those who may be unfamiliar, remember: These are five suggestions you might want to think about the next time you pull up Netflix’s instant ... read more

Disney and Dish: An exciting marriage or the beginning of a divorce?

Well, this is important. Dish Network and Disney made a deal this week, and it might just change a whole bunch of stuff throughout the Internet TV landscape. In short, the satellite television provider bought the rights to offer up ABC, ESPN and the Disney Channel on an Internet platform. Think about what you get from owning an Apple TV, a Roku or a Chromecast. Substitute that for the aforementioned three networks. And boom. That's what you got. But here's the thing: Dish is already in negotiations ... read more

Netflix Pix – November 2013

And ... whoops! For the first time in this blog's long and storied history (ha!), the first post of the month did not bring a new batch of Netflix Pix. This, friends, was not done by design. An overload of things on my mind (and not to mention a deluge of work, both new and old), stole tiny parts of my memory for a short amount of time and unfortunately, the "Netflix Pix" portion just happened to be part of one of those parts. But no fear, for we must always subscribe to the notion that late is ... read more

A marriage in misspelled heaven. ESPN is worth more than most countries.

The potential development of an open system for accurate measurement of the entire Facebook platform will provide our clients and the larger Social TV ecosystem with more insights and tools to make better decisions.” Whoops. Those words (the top quote; not the "whoops") according to The New York Times' Vindu Goel, were uttered by the people Trendrr, ... read more

USA! USA! USA!

I love soccer (or, well, football. But if I used that particular terminology here, thoughts of the Redskins or Ravens would more than likely jump into your head, and that's not right). I played the sport all through my kid years, teen years and then (somewhat) college years. Before moving here, I even coached a soccer team that consisted of adorable 4- to 6-year olds (we finished the season 4-1-1, thank you). And last year's USMNT's World Cup run? Goodness. Each match wasn't just another reason to ... read more

Playoffs? Who said anything about playoffs?

by Colin McGuire. 0 Comments

Wow. How did we get two months into this thing without ever touching on sports? Honestly, though. Sure, we all love our sitcoms, movies and music programming, but what about the NBA and NHL playoffs? Or how about the upcoming (probably locked-out) NFL season and the current MLB marathon? The NCAA lacrosse finals? Soccer's Champions League finals? Cricket? Golf? Tennis? Whatever odd, "this is actually a sport?" sport NBC airs on Sunday afternoons? Those are all valid questions, friends. The interesting ... read more
