Beware, Nationals fans – I am in a bad mood. I am usually a sunny disposition-type of person, but today I’m not, mainly because I got to work early for a meeting that ended up being canceled and no one told me. But that’s neither here nor there – I was in a bad mood to begin with, since Max Scherzer was announced as the starting pitchers for the Washington Nationals on opening day this year.
What’s the big deal – it’s only the first game out of 162 – why does it really matter ... read more
As you probably know by now, the Washington Nationals were eliminated in the first round of this year's baseball playoffs. Yes, just like in 2012, the team that led the National League in wins was defeated by the Wild Card team, in this case the San Francisco Giants. All the talk of a "Beltway World Series" between the Nationals and Orioles quickly faded away and is now a distant memory.
So what happened? Well the games weren't really that exciting. In game 1, which my ... read more
With only 20 games left in the regular season for the Washington Nationals, the team is solidly in first place, 7 games above the Atlanta Braves. All the games that the Nationals have left are against NL East teams, including six against the Braves. So a LOT can still happen, despite the Nationals’ “magic number” to clinch their division being only 14. Still, unless the team completely falls apart, you can expect the Nats to clinch the NL East and move on to post-season baseball.

The Washington Nationals have been having a very productive Spring Training, whittling down their roster (8 more guys left to cut) and working on their weaknesses from 2013 (like holding players on base so they don’t steal ... read more
Hey Nationals fans! It may be hard to believe with the awful weather we’ve been having so far this year, but Spring Training is just around the corner! Pitchers and catchers report this Thursday, with the rest of the squad starting next week (February 18). I don’t know about you, but I am giddy with excitement! Really, I'm giddy - I'm not kidding!

Hey Nationals fans! I hope you all had a safe Halloween – did you all see my son dressed as Jayson Werth? Anyway, now that the World Series is over, the Washington Nationals can make it official: Matt Williams has been hired as their new manager.
Williams, 47, becomes the fifth full-time manager in Nationals history. The team made the announcement on Thursday morning, and Williams will meet with the media Friday afternoon during a 2 p.m. press conference that will be televised live on ... read more
