Netflix Pix – October 2014

by Colin McGuire. 0 Comments

Could it be? Could we actually be getting to this month's Netflix Pix in a relatively reasonable amount of time? OK, so maybe it's October 10, but it sure comes a hell of a lot quicker than September's list did. Plus, you'll have to forgive me for taking time to serve school lunches, which, as it turns out, can really get in the way of blogging about Internet television. Oh, wait. That's right. Nobody's reading anymore. I forgot. Still, we push on through! And still, as has been the case for ... read more

Netflix Pix – September 2014

by Colin McGuire. 0 Comments

Are you kidding me with this list? Like, honestly. Are you kidding me with this list? Welcome back from the longest break this blog has ever seen (I know — nobody's reading). We're late on September's pix (with an "X") and because October starts in about 38 seconds, the next post will be October's list as well. So that's 10 suggestions from Netflix's streaming library in less than seven days. Is like Christmas came early. Or Halloween is Christmas. Or something. Anyway, if August provided ... read more

Netflix Pix – August 2014

Boy, oh boy. This is easily my favorite Netflix Pix list of the year so far and it's not close. And what better time than now, right as the dog days of summer kick into full gear? Instead of tolling around in the hot summer sun, you can blast the AC, pull up Big Red's instant streaming library, and sit with any of the following five picks (or, well, four of them, at least) to ensure some super-duper greater-than-great movie-watching fun. Not only do we have my favorite movie from 2012, but we ... read more

Netflix Pix – July 2014

by Colin McGuire. 0 Comments

(P.S. Yes. The Emmys will be discussed next week.) July, July. Fireworks. Hot dogs. Patriotism. Sunshine. Sunburn. Hamburgers. The beach. Friends. Family. Water. Heat. More heat. And yes. Even more heat. This month's set of Netflix Pix is one of the strongest we've had in a while. And by "strongest," I mean, "At least I didn't have to spend three hours culling the instant stream library this time to find five things we haven't already listed." Naturally. So, yes. This is my happy face. From ... read more

Netflix Pix – June 2014

June, oh June. You are hot. You are sweaty. And you are filled with music. No, but really. To the two-and-a-half of you who might still be reading, it's imperative to note why there seems to be an extended absence from this blog (as well as a slip-up on our annual upfronts coverage - sad face!). Well, that would be because of this: www.frederickplaylist.com The fine folks here at the Frederick News-Post have asked me to start up a new website dedicated solely to Frederick music. Thus, Frederick ... read more

A New Dish Network Web TV Service By Summer? Plus, The Return Of Moviefone.

by Colin McGuire. 0 Comments

Oh, there's so much to get to. So much to catch up on. So much to discuss. There are podcasts. There are horses. And then there's the two-for-one fabulousness that we're about to offer. All right. Let's get to it. Quite The Dish There was a time, not too long ago, when we took a look at the news that Dish Network was contemplating throwing its hat into the Internet TV ring. Remember that? The deal with Disney? The intention of engaging in countless more negotiations with countless more conglomerates? ... read more

Netflix Pix – May 2014

by Colin McGuire. 0 Comments

May. Oh, May. You bring us Memorial Day. You bring us the most important horse racing events of the year (tune in Sunday for the third-annual Kentucky Derby Nonsense Column!). You bring us a break from snow (hopefully). You bring me sunburn. And, of course, you also bring us a brand new slate of picks for the worldwide phenomenon that is Netflix Pix. This month, we have the definition of hate-watching. We have a Jay-Z sample. We have a cult classic that's celebrating 20 years in a few months. ... read more

Hail Hydra! A Meme from Captain America: The Winter Soldier

by Hannah Rudow. 0 Comments

The movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier includes a terrorist organization from the Marvel universe called Hydra. During the movie one of the characters whispers the catchphrase "Hail Hydra" to another Hydra member in a serious but notably awkward manner. It reminded me of the way that Voldemort hugged Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier came out on April 4th and on the 6th the first images captioned with "Hail Hydra" began to ... read more

April showers bring ... my 30th birthday! Indeed, make room for some good, old-fashioned gift-trolling, set to begin ... about ... now! At least slightly more importantly for you, however, April is also set to bring some pretty interesting Neflix Pix from this particular corner of the World Wide Internet. That's right: Netflix. Netflix Pix – March 2014

by Colin McGuire. 0 Comments

In like a lion out like a ... well, out like a something. March is here and it's not any warmer and snow is still on the ground and it doesn't feel like spring is right around the corner and St. Patrick's Day is less than two weeks away and Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday and blah, blah, blah, blah. Indeed, it's about time this doozy of a winter is supposed to be winding down. Whether or not it actually will ... well, heels crossed, as Claire Underwood would say. Either way, the dawn of a ... read more
