This Saturday (7/31) is going to be a great day for local music. FredRock starts at the Frederick Moose Lodge at noon and Baltimore based J. Roddy Walston and the Business hit the Ottobar stage at 8pm. These are both show that you will not want to miss. FredRock boasts 24 local bands and J. Roddy will be celebrating the release of his new CD which came out TODAY.
If you are unfamiliar with J. Roddy Walston and the Business, you’ll be happy to know that the band has been calling Baltimore home for about six years now and specialize in rock AND roll. Yes, the band makes it a point to include the “roll” in that statement emphasizing the fact that their music isn’t just indie rock, it’s some quandary of classic rock elements (not as in the genre of classic rock per see) and some indefinable version of Jerry Lee Lewis like pizzazz. The boys really believe in the lost art of rock and roll and have reinvented it twice now with the latest self entitled release. They are also known for delivering live performance that make your feet move even if you’re trying not to. Saturday’s CD release party should be no exceptions, but get tix’s early as his show in Baltimore are known to sell out!
