I went out to Heritage Farm Park in Walkersville today to play a quick nine holes of Disc Golf. The overcast weather didn't detract from a great round. Getting a little exercise and taking in the scenery never gets old.
The course is maturing well, even at the early stages of its growth. Trees are starting to become serioous obstacles to line drive throws. The mandatory dogleg at hole 6 and the creek and bushes between the tee pad and the hole at #7 are fun, if not frustrating challenges. The back nine still has some growing to do since most of it is in an open field. There is a beautiful view of the barn wall with an elevated basket that provides some fun.
There are several courses within an hour of Frederick city that are great places to visit either for the outstanding course construction or the scenic views (or both). Visit Seneca Creek State Park and you are sure to see at least a few deer cross the fairways (at 90 degree angles of course)! Middletown Park has more of an open-field style of play but the breeze coming off the surrounding mountains coupled with the great view just can't be beat. Check out this website for reviews, directions and other information on the near-by courses. Check back in with me and let me know your scores!
