The Sony PSP2, codename the NGP (Next Generation Portable), has been announced in Japan and is getting some serious press.

It will be available this holiday and so far, it has some good console support from Capcom, Konami, Grasshopper Manufacture, Epic Games, Activision and 2K Games to name a few.

With an 5 inch OLED touch screen, rear touchpad, 3G data connectivity, built in SIXAXIS, Sony is sure to give the 3DS a heck of fight for your palms.

In addition, the new system will not use UMD media disc for games and movies. In fact, Sony is using media cards, similar to the DS, to house their games and content.
