Capcom’s Captivate 2011, Part 1!

Every year, Capcom holds an annual event called Captivate. Held in Miami, Florida this year (last year the event was held in Hawaii), Capcom shows off their new up and coming titles to be released in the near future.

First up is Street Fighter x Tekken, also known as SFxT (the "x" is pronounced as "cross"). This is the latest crossover title between Capcom's Street Fighter series and Namco Bandai's Tekken series. The game is being made in the Street Fighter, 2D plane style by Capcom and Namco Bandai has no input of the game whatsoever; as they are making Tekken x Street Fighter in the Tekken 3D plane style with Capcom having no input on the game as well. The release date is set in 2012 but so far, it's shaping up to be an excellent title. Think of the game as Street Fighter with Tekken style launchers and juggles....SICK! Although the work is still under development, it's looks pretty impressive!

Next up is Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Developed by Slant Six Games (developer of the SOCOM games), the game takes place between the timeline of Resident Evil 2 and 3. Looks like Capcom is outsourcing more of their titles lately. RE: OCC is a squad based third person shooter with survival horror elements thrown in the mix. I was skeptical for this title at first, but it looks like a sleeper hit. Release date is scheduled in Fall 2011 for the PS3, 360 & PC. Check it out!

After months of speculation and rumors, Capcom has finally confirmed is Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition for the PlayStation 3, XBOX 360 & PC. You heard me right, for the PC! Arcade Edition re-balances all characters and adds new characters to the mix (Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu and Oni). The game is coming as DLC released on June 7th for $14.99 for the consoles that already have Super Street Fighter IV and $39.99 sometime around June 24th for the entire package (SSFIV and AE together). New features and tweaks have been added so look for it in June!

That's it for part 1! Check out the next blog for part 2!
