A Mile in My Shoes…

A Mile in My Shoes... The path ahead is rough and certain perils are expected. My mind is tired, my body weary. I feel I won’t always be protected. I know there is bound to be ups and downs. I’m sure my footing will crumble. My pace is uneven, my heart is racing and along the way I stumble. The tools I have are not the best I wonder if they will last. I’m faced with much uncertainty it wells up from the past Those darkened nights, the lonely trek, the sting of wounds unhealed. Is there not a single soul around; This broken heart to shield? Help me to succeed at last! Encourage me along the way! Mold my spirit, mend my scars, give me 1 voice to say, “I know again the sun will rise and banish the fear of night! I know this cold and lonesome feeling will give its way to light!” I just need a voice of reason to shout across the land... I just want a kindred spirit to take my outstretched hand.

1 Voice Trekking  participates in long hikes to raise funds and awareness for groups that support and advance the lives of abused, neglected, and underprivileged children and youth. Since the group began in 2010, they have completed 2 day hikes - the 41 Mile Maryland Challenge on the Appalachian Trail and the 27 mile Catoctin Trail in Western Maryland.   On September 30, 2011, 13 hikers will trek 50 miles in less than 24 hours on the Appalachian Trail from Maryland into Boiling Springs, PA.  We are hiking for the Diakon Flight Program, Voices for Children, and the National Center for Children and Families.

This looks to be a great experience to get out and walk in our surrounding trails and woods.  And also to help a great cause so committed to our children.  I'm really looking forward to this hike!
