New Trails in Our Neck of the Woods!

Frederick County is set to get a new trail system in the Catoctin Mountains just outside of Emmitsburg Maryland.  This is great news for us outdoors enthusiasts.  There are alreay a multitude of great riding, walking, hiking and running trails in our area including Gambrill State Park, The Frederick Watershed and Greenbriar State Park.  The addition of a trail system near Emmitsburg is sure to compliment the list of destinations for outdoor adventure.

Located just outside the incorporated town, the winding backroads of the area will lead you to Rainbow Lake on Hampton Valley Road.  The trail system project is still in the beginning phases and is relying heavily on volunteerism to help keep costs down. When it is completed there are expected to be 20 to 25 miles of multi-use trails that will connect to Mount Saint Mary's University (also working on their own set of trails) and Emmitsburg community park.

Check out this blog post and join in the fun on October 8th by lending a helping hand to a great cause.
