OK. Two things:
1. Last year was a watershed moment for the Internet television medium, which was why we opted to ooze and gush over the mere fact that "House Of Cards" received a bevy of Emmy nominations. It opened the doors wide open for what happened this year (way more on that below), and it was a moment that forced us to opt against the usual Emmy format, if only for a year.
And 2. Yes, I completely understand that the Emmy nominees were revealed six days ago. But this post is not ... read more
It was a banner week for "Orange Is The New Black," the series earning a bevy or barrage or a barrevy of Emmy nominations yesterday for their season one work. And gosh-darn-it, if Crazy Eyes doesn't end up walking away with a trophy of her own that night, I might ... I might ... well, I might do absolutely nothing about it (I mean, really: What on earth could I do, anyway?). But it would be disappointing, nonetheless. Obviously.
Anyway, behold five things about episodes seven and eight when ... read more
(P.S. Yes. The Emmys will be discussed next week.)
July, July. Fireworks. Hot dogs. Patriotism. Sunshine. Sunburn. Hamburgers. The beach. Friends. Family. Water. Heat. More heat. And yes. Even more heat.
This month's set of Netflix Pix is one of the strongest we've had in a while. And by "strongest," I mean, "At least I didn't have to spend three hours culling the instant stream library this time to find five things we haven't already listed." Naturally.
So, yes. This is my happy face.

“We are not against people moving forward and offering our content online and all sorts of places, as long as it is appropriately licensed. Innovation is still alive and well and thriving."
Well, yeah. But ... .
The top nugget was buried at the bottom of a New York Times piece authored by Emily Steel. It was published yesterday and it was what we like to call the second-day (or, at this point, at least, the third- or fourth-day) story regarding the Supreme Court's decision to rule against ... read more
... And we're back. After a quick break last week, it's time to return to the lovely ladies at the state of New York's busiest women's prison. It was a steady climb toward greatness after the disappointment episode one provided and the improvement between the first two episodes was both real and abundant. That trend continues with installments three and four. So, enough of me gabbering. Let's go. Naturally, spoilers abound:
1. The further I get into this series, the more I realize how much ... read more
(Note: There was no "Orange Is The New Black" post last week because of this. It will resume this week).
This will be short, but it's imperative to get it out there as it breaks: This blog's favorite weirdly named Internet start-up just saw its life flash before its tiny-antennae-d eyes. From Mark Sherman of The Associated Press ...
"The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that a startup Internet company has to pay broadcasters when it takes television programs from the airwaves and allows subscribers ... read more
Well, lookie here: Season four of "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee" is upon us. Better yet? The kickoff date is Thursday. That's right: A mere three days away!
And as for whom we will see rolling around in some rented car with Mr. Jerry Seinfeld himself ...
Sarah Jessica Parker
Oh, wait. You didn't know Sarah Jessica Parker was opening up for Bill Cosby on his next tour?! Well ... duh!
Anyway, in what I think is a first for ... read more
All right. So, here's the plan. One week ago today, the second season of "Orange Is The New Black" was released all at once. As we know by now, that's how Netflix rolls. Some of you (assuming anybody actually reads this thing, which is highly, highly unlikely) might have already stormed your way through the entire season. Others might be about half done. Then, of course, there could be those who simply haven't even had the chance to sit down and reacquaint themselves with the series at all. I ... read more
Welp. As I alluded to on Friday, we missed this year's upfronts. That's sad, right? So. So. Sad. After taking time to ramble nonsensically, offer some trailers, and provide three bullet points for NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox through the past couple years, this time around, we got ... a brand new website dedicated to local music? Bah. Still sad, I know.
In any case, instead of plowing ground that's already been harvested (is that even a correct sentence?), I thought we'd condense all four of the major ... read more
June, oh June. You are hot. You are sweaty. And you are filled with music.
No, but really. To the two-and-a-half of you who might still be reading, it's imperative to note why there seems to be an extended absence from this blog (as well as a slip-up on our annual upfronts coverage - sad face!). Well, that would be because of this:
The fine folks here at the Frederick News-Post have asked me to start up a new website dedicated solely to Frederick music. Thus, Frederick ... read more
